Seniors Mentoring ProjectSenior Week
IntroductionAs part of Senior Week at projecteducate and dAseniors, I'd like to share a bit about the Seniors Mentoring Project (SMP for short). SMP is based at the seniormentors group on DeviantArt and aims to be a supportive path for deviants to get real mentor support from DeviantArt's Senior Members.
Origin and PurposeThe group operates such that Mentors (Senior Members who have elected to join the Mentor team) may reach out to deviants on a one-to-one basis and provide instruction, detailed feedback, and constructive criticism. The group was originally founded in 2007 by cei- and is currently under the supervision of JenFruzz.
SMP TodaySMP was recently revamped in the hopes that more Seniors would like to devote their time and knowledge to mentor other deviants as well as in the hopes that deviants would like to receive help and feedback from whom they believe are appropriate sources of this information. Se

I was not always into art. When I was in school, I didn't like art classes and I wasn't confident in my writing. I would sometimes write beginnings of fantasy stories (some of which I still remember, but would prefer to forget) but I never got past the first couple chapters because I had no idea what I was doing, and what sort of stories I wanted to tell. That was until I started using the Internet and discovered the wonderful world of fan art through a small French-language Pokémon fan website I had joined for its game walkthroughs. It was a dark and stormy night... or, much more likely, a merely cloudy afternoon, and I learned what fanfiction was. This article will describe several reasons why you should be utilizing the chat network section of dAmn. It's fair to say I spend most of my DA time in the chat rooms. In fact, my closest friends on this website are those I met while chatting! Seniority on DeviantArt is that cool thing that gives a user a pretty medal next to their username. Today I'd like to shine a bit of light on what seniority actually means.
Before we dive into all of this though I'd like to start out by quoting :faq29:
"So what does it take to become a Senior? That's a question many have asked and have never really been able to get a straight answer on. Some have gained Seniority as a thank you for their time spent as a Volunteer, or to recognize their contribution to a particular project or collaborative action. Some have gained Seniority because of their community spirit, providing help and assistance to many other deviants and taking time out to promote the work of others in the community.
