The life of a chef is much like that of an artist. The inspiration and determination to take your crafts into new and adventurous directions all while slowly learning at your own pace or from a seasoned master is quite the adventure. First inspiration hits you, your mind swirling with possibilities of what to create. A dessert? A daring new twist on an entree? Or perhaps you wish to perfect what you've done, hoping to bring forth the new standard in your talents? Each and every ingredient surrounding you in your kitchen is a gateway to a potential culinary delight. Dashes of salt, freshly marinated meats and aged cheeses, splashes of shimmering wines and vinegar all mix together with the same passion and dedication of that of an inspired artist working on their next project. Your eyes glint with what to touch, what new path to explore or what flavorful land to return to. Fingers trembling with excitement, your mind finally snaps to the decision: a cake. Not just any cake, not just one cake, but any and all you can make. Your mind is swallowed in a torrential storm of possibilities, from the succulent bites of the red velvet cake, the smooth and sultry flavors of the elegant cheesecake, down to the humble appeal of the cupcake. Each of the potentialities all collectively resonate within your mind, their displays nestled within you, just oh so out of reach. They feel so real that you can almost taste their soft, moist texture, singing symphonies of personal success and indulgence with each tender cut from your fork. Your eyes tearing in anticipation as the piece inches ever so slowly past your lips, then with one clandestine bite, you're absorbed into its flavor; slowly melting within with each indulgent chew, then feeling the warmth of it as it sinks down your throat as if it were coating it in velvet. Then you open your eyes and indulge once more. That is when you snap awake and realize that you've only collected the ingredients, but you're not swayed for even an instant. For you realize that this fantasy is not just soon to be reality, but you're going to be sure that it surpasses even your dreams in flavor. >Chef in Heaven, created by the lovely `arichy, presents us with such a fantasy of such confectionery proportions of a chef immersed within. Showing us how and why the whimsical appeal of emoticons is still very strong and lively.
From the instant you lay eyes upon this piece, you can see and feel the undeniable charm that it holds. The glistering and distant smile of the emote as it floats happily in its dream clouds, adds greatly to the already lighthearted atmosphere of the composition. The confections, while colorful are also nicely detailed, with sharply designed outlines and a good use of shading as well. Their shine and colors contributes to the bright and dream-like atmosphere representative in the image. Even the fluffy chef's hat adorned upon the emote's head really sends that message home of one who is completely in tune with their fantasy as well as the artist's intentions.
However, here are a few things that could be added to take this piece from good to great. I feel as though the floating animation could do with a contributing shadow beneath each of the figures to add an extra dimension of depth within. Also with how bright and lively the color scheme is, it gives of the impression of a directional light source. So having a few shadows cast behind the figures as well would really add that much more to the piece itself. Finally, maybe making an alternate with a transparent background with an outline of a kitchen or animation of the kitchen fading away to give way to the fantasy could be a great update for the piece in the future.
Much like the passion and imagination of an artist, that of a chef is as infinite as their imaginations will allow. Each piece and that we bake/create is always going to reflect each and every thought and dream we've wanted to express in our own personal way. Countless concepts and thoughts float about within us just waiting for the day when we'll be daring enough to finally take up our tools and meet the challenge within. At first, our steps are slow and unsure, but once we manage to find our rhythm, we're walking tall. Chef in Heaven is a perfect example of that philosophy taken to physical form. To always be immersed in thoughts and ideas that we could only dream of, but its knowing that we can actually achieve those dreams that makes those fantasies closer to realities. Excellent work on the piece Stasya and here's to many more!
This is honestly the cutest thing ever. I really like the imagination that can come with it. It seems like a fantasy. I absolutely love the artwork for the sweets, it's just that what's the first dessert, above the cupcake? I couldn't really tell what it was. But other than that it looks really.... sweet. Although I would add some more sweets to it maybe. Or you can change the cloud color so it looks like cotton candy because it's kind of dessert/candy related! You can add more animation ideas to the chef like, it eating one of the sweets. Maybe add a little color. Other than that, I loved this animation!
